The Winter Olympics have officially begun and will be held from Friday, February 6, until Sunday, February 22, 2026. These will be known as the Milano Cortina Games, as they are being hosted by Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. Famed rapper Snoop Dogg was in the Olympic torch relay, carrying the flame from Gallarate to Monza, in preparation for the opening ceremony.
Despite the fanfare and big-name celebrities, all eyes will be on the athletes who have trained years for this opportunity. Leading the charge for Team USA is alpine skiing icon Mikaela Shiffrin, who is chasing more gold to add to her record-breaking career, and figure skating's "Quad God" Ilia Malinin, who looks to make history on the ice. They are joined by returning champions like snowboarder Chloe Kim and speed skater Erin Jackson, both of whom are defending their titles. Team USA arrived in Italy a couple of days prior to the lighting of the cauldron, moving into the Olympic Village as soon as it was declared open. There will be a lot of events to watch, which begs the question...
