The price of eggs is finally going down. In late 2024 and
early 2025, the price for eggs was outrageous. A dozen eggs cost more than a
chicken, which was questionable. After all, a chicken must be fed, treated for
diseases, sheltered, and cared for, usually for a period of 7 to 9 weeks to
grow and mature, which costs money. After they're slaughtered, they must be
defeathered, butchered, packaged, etc.; hopefully, you get the idea. It was
hard to understand how a dozen eggs were comparable in price to a chicken.
People began to panic and purchase eggs at a 400% markup. This insanity was
attributed to the H5N1 bird flu that left farmers with no choice but to destroy
vast flocks of the birds, thereby raising prices - on the eggs.
We visited three different stores in a 5-mile radius on the
same day in March of 2025 and took the photos that you see above. We began to
wonder if some crises were manufactured in order to distract people or to keep
them upset, for whatever reason. We decided to post this topic in April because
April is, after all, Stress Awareness Month. Stress can have adverse effects on
one's mental health. A few symptoms of stress are feeling irritation, anger,
nervousness, uncertainty, or anxiety; lacking motivation; feeling sad or depressed; or having trouble concentrating. Now, tariffs have been in the news
quite a bit, and economists have been giving warnings and making predictions, and
all seem to have arrived at the conclusion that prices will go up for the
American consumer... Click Here.
This certainly can be stressful. Items said to be affected
include electronics such as computers, phones, and televisions; cars; clothing;
furniture; and mostly anything that is currently made overseas. However, there
are so many unsold items that this would seem to take some time to have an
impact. Yet, a manufactured crisis can make you feel the crunch almost
immediately and have you shelling out money on overpriced items. April is also
National Financial Literacy Month.
