The NHL playoffs are scheduled to begin soon, kicking off on
April 19, 2025. The Washington Capitals have clinched the Eastern Conference
and look poised to win the Stanley Cup this year, but somehow, they are not the
favorites. The Dallas Stars are the favorites, according to BetMGM. The
rationale behind this may be their acquisition of Mikko Rantanen, the right
wing from Finland. After losing against 10th place Utah, dropping their last
game of the season, the Stars will be facing the Colorado Avalanche in the
first round of the playoffs. In the Western Conference, the Winnipeg Jets had a
battle in their last game of the regular season with the 15th-place Chicago Blackhawks.
Their game came down to a shootout that the Jets eventually won. Besides the
Capitals, Stars, Jets, and Avalanche, another serious contender to hoist
the Stanley Cup are the Florida Panthers, ranked second by BetMGM. The Panthers
lost to the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Finals last year in seven games.
Everyone seems doubtful that the Oilers will repeat.
